General – This fish is also known as the Mdoka White Lips. They are closely related to the Placidochromis Phenochilus “Star Sapphire”. Instead of the glittery blue body of the Star Sapphire, the Mdoka White Lips has just a blue body with white lips. Their size and body shape are also very similar. This is also considered a rare cichlid just because it’s very hard to find and even if you find some, it will costs more than your other common peacocks and haps. I heard one of the reason why they are rare because they will only breed 2x per year under proper condition. I’m not sure how true this is but could be a reason why the Star Sapphires and Mdoka White Lips are very rare fish to find.
Tank Requirement – 65G minimum and a sandy bottom with minimal decoration.
